Vastu Tips

	All exterior and interior influences must be considered when evaluating feng shui. For interiors, these include: stove position, beams, stairs, columns, posts, doors, study desk, dining table, lights, bed position, wall and furniture colours. For exteriors, observe renewing: road directions, bridges, tress, corners or buildings, temples and shrines, rivers, streams, fire hydrants, drains, alleys, telephone, power or electric poles or towers, colours of the surrounding environment, and the presence, function and shapes of surrounding building. The best feng shui location is one that is protected in the back by a hill or stand of tress, with two smaller hills in front, overlooking a wide view, preferably of water, e.g. the “seat of a armchair” land formation.
	Avoid buildings that are at the end of a dead end facing the entering road, or in the cradle of a Y formed by two converging roads, or the intersection of two roads that from a T.
	A house should be square or rectangular in shape to reflect balance with the most important at its center. Toilets, storage areas, or other ‘dead areas’ should not be prime location.
	Odd angles, posts, and architectural features that protrude into a room or hallway should be avoided. They can be covered with mirrors or a climbing vine or tall, potted plant.
	Your office or study should be a quite, serene place that promotes creativity and concentration. Avoid using the colours gold or red, or images or tigers or dragons here as they are too stimulating. You should sit facing the door and not have your back against a window (lack of support). A round dining room table is the best for family harmony with members seated according to their corresponding directions.
	Aquariums (and other water features such as fountains) are ideal in a study, home office, living (best) and dining rooms. In aquariums, there should be an odd number of fish and if the fish die, they have absorbed something unfortunate that was meant for their owner and should replaced immediately.
	Keep aquarium, fountain and pond water clean and filters moving. Don’t place water features at the devil doors: outside a northeast, inside a southwest. The circulating water stimulates and prosperity as water symbolizes wealth.
